What We Do

Helping You Rediscover Life's Simple Pleasures

In 2019 the idea for the DDL Care Hub was born, from noticing something missing in our community. As cherished local services began to close their doors, many older adults found their favourite places and pastimes slipping away. The vibrant day centres, comforting trips to the day hospital, and more became memories, leaving behind a feeling of solitude.

But every challenge brings an opportunity. When the world faced the pandemic, it highlighted an urgent need. A place where older adults could find companionship, reignite passions, and feel supported every step of the way. Enter the DDL Care Hub.

Rediscovering Together, Every Day

This isn’t just any hub; it’s a vibrant space where activities flow and laughter echoes. Want to try your hand at a new tech gadget? “My Mum has been attending the DDL Care Hub since it opened and thoroughly enjoys her time there. The facilities are great and all the staff are fantastic in the care and attention they provide. My Mum suffers from dementia and the Hub provides a very sociable and stimulating environment, allowing her to take part in activities such as cooking which she loves but can no longer do at home.”

“My husband started going to the Hub at Cavalry Park in October 2023, he goes twice a week. He enjoys it very much and looks forward to going. It has given him his “own world” away from me and he does things there that he can’t do at home. He’s always doing a bit of cooking, but doesn’t do any at home as he needs help and supervision. It’s a safe place for hm as he can’t speak any longer. Going to the Hub also gives me a good break and time for me to do things without having to listen out for him.”

“The DDL Care Hub is where my mum goes to meet her friends. She has a lovely day, doing lots of activities including cooking, crafts and exercise. She socialises with everyone over lunch, helps to clear up and above all has a feeling that her life has purpose. She looks forward to her days at the Care Hub and we’re most grateful to everyone who works there.”
